'Everybody is a genius, but if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is inadequate.'
Albert Einstein

For that’s the challenge for lots of women of a ‘certain age’ today. Years ago women accepted that life after forty was going to slow down, and you really were meant to look after the rest of the family and plan to accept old age as inevitable.
But women are taking back their power and now you find female TV presenters challenging their employers over the status quo. After all, men carry on reading the news until into their sixties. It’s not rocket science and since when did the news suddenly improve by being read by a 29 year old? The only way to make the news better is to feature more positive stories.
I digress: I’m allowed to because I am a woman of a certain age! I don’t want to be Madonna: I’ve never had any cosmetic surgery and don’t intend to and I am lucky that people tell me I don’t look my age, but, when I hit fifty I was shocked at how my friends of around that age told me how they feel invisible and that they don’t know what to do with the rest of their lives. Often this was happening because they have spent years caring for their families and lost their sense of self and come to the conclusion that (as Bruce Hornby sang) ‘That’s just the way it is’.
Whilst that might have been sad a hundred years ago, when people were lucky to live much beyond fifty, these days women are easily hitting their eighties or nineties and many are getting to live beyond one hundred. We are the marathon runners, not the sprinters and that means you have a lot more of your life to live.
So, how are you going to live that life?
Do you have any idea?
I bet if you are answering ‘No’ to the second question, it’s because you have lived a life caring for others and probably are still doing so, or the people you have cared for have now left (for their own lives, via divorce or they’ve departed from this life).
I’m here to tell you that your time really is NOW and I don’t want you to waste it.
- I want you to throw out all of those limiting beliefs that are rumbling around in the recesses of your head, and those well-meaning friends and relatives who want to keep you just where you are.
- I want you to stop settling for being second best in your life and putting everyone else first.
Why?
Because I know that you are here for a purpose and you are feeling restless to do something different, yet you keep suppressing that feeling and keep filling your life helping others and putting their needs first.
There is nothing wrong with caring for others: it is what helps make a great society, but helping others at the expense of your own self-care is not such a good idea as you become taken for granted, and end up resenting the fact that people don’t appreciate all you are doing for them.
So that’s why I am here:
To help you stop the madness and start to put yourself first.
To allow you to appreciate yourself and give yourself permission to be YOU and not everyone else’s versions of what you are meant to be.
To help you find your true life purpose and fulfill your dreams.
I’ve been a carer, (both professionally and for an elderly parent) and I know how easy it is to become immersed in the challenges that a caring role brings and how, before you know it, years have passed and you have lost your sense of self. You stop making decisions based around what you want and take the part of least resistance because you don’t have the energy to do anything else.
But I am also here to tell you that this is no way to live!
I care passionately about women and what gifts they have to bring to the world. There is a real shift going on at the moment and the sacred masculine is making way for the divine feminine, so that we are able to live in a more balanced world and I want you to be part of that and to bring your unique gifts into play so that you have a more fulfilling life because, in that well known advertisement ‘You’re worth it’.
Only by women standing up and claiming our place in the world, can we really start to make a shift and make it a better world for the women who are following behind us by setting them a great example.
